Staffordshire residents have been recognised by Her Majesty the Queen in the New Year Honours.
People from Staffordshire have been recognised in the New Year’s Honours List alongside household names from sports, entertainment and the arts.
Three residents have been honoured by Her Majesty the Queen with MBEs for their services to the community and to innovation.
The recipients are Yvonne Clarke, managing director of Pathways Community Interest Company; Peter Walters, training manager at Worldskills UK; and Councillor Kath Perry, Chairman of Staffordshire County Council.
Ms Clarke is regarded as an expert on health inequalities and their reduction by promoting positive relationships through health and work. Pathways’ ‘Workplace Wellbeing’ model has been described as best practice by the World Health Organisation and she has also held senior positions at St George’s Hospital, Stafford, and the Wolverhampton Healthcare Trust.
Coun Perry is the current Chairman of Staffordshire County Council, having been a county councillor since 2005. She has also represented Great Wyrley on South Staffordshire District Councillor since 1995. An accomplished singer, Kath has used her skills to raise a great deal of money over the last 20 years for a range of beneficiaries, including Cancer Research, The Heart Foundation, the sensory garden at the Lakes nursing home and St Mark’s Church in Great Wyrley.

Staffordshire has many assets and advantages, whether we’re talking about its natural beauty and the advantage of its position in the heart of the country, or the skills and talents of its entrepreneurs and workforce, but, above all else, its greatest strength is its people, the ones who make their communities a better place.
I am delighted to see Her Majesty the Queen has recognised these people, including the County Council's Chairman Kath Perry, for their sustained contribution towards helping others and helping make life in Staffordshire better for everyone.”
Mr Ian Dudson CBE, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, said:
Staffordshire residents have been recognised through these New Year Honours for their contributions covering a wide range of different activities.
They are united however in their desire to help others and as well as sending our warmest congratulations, we also thank them for all they do."
Residents of Staffordshire who have received an honour include:
- An MBE for Yvonne Clarke, of Uttoxeter, managing director of Pathways Community Interest Company for services to innovation and the community in North West England;
- An MBE for Kathleen Mary Perry, of Churchbridge, for services to the community in Staffordshire;
- An MBE for Peter Derek Walters, of Forsbrook, training manager at Worldskills UK, for services to the Worldskills competition.
