It's business as usual for Staffordshire's recycling centres, apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
Staffordshire’s recycling centres are ready to take the festive strain over the holiday period.
Normal service will continue for all the county’s 14 recycling centres apart from on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
All sites that normally open on a Monday will be running as usual on 23rd December until 5pm and those sites that regularly operate on Tuesdays will be open until 3pm on Christmas Eve.
It’s business as usual between Friday 27th and Monday 30th December and those sites that usually open on Tuesdays will operate until 3pm on New Year’s Eve, to help families deal with the extra bottles, tins, cardboard and wrappings from the week’s festivities.
Mark Deaville, Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for Commercial, said:
There is a huge amount of rubbish generated over the festive period, so our recycling centres will be ready and waiting.
Anyone who wants to get a head start on clearing the house of wrapping paper, bottles or something that’s been replaced by a new gift, including electricals, will be pleased to know our waste recycling centres are able to help.”
He added:
Apart from December 25th, 26th and January 1st, all our recycling centres will open and close on the same days of the week as they do for the rest of the year.”
That means all Staffordshire’s household waste recycling centres will be open on the 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st, apart from Burton (closed Monday 30th) and Biddulph, Lichfield, Stone and Wombourne (closed Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st).
On Thursday 2nd January all sites will be operating as usual, with Burntwood, Cheadle, Newcastle, Rugeley and Uttoxeter closed. After that, all sites will be open as usual from Friday January 3rd onwards.
