Queen’s Birthday Honours for Staffordshire

Staffordshire residents have been recognised in the Queen's New Year's Honours List.

People from Staffordshire have been recognised in the New Year’s Honours List alongside household names from sports, entertainment and the arts.

Residents have been honoured with an OBE, MBEs and a BEM for their services to patient safety, further education, grassroots football and the community.

Recipients include Debra Hazeldine MBE, who spoke at the 2017 Conservative Party Conference about her campaign work against the failings at the former Mid-Staffordshire NHS Trust; Karen Dobson OBE, the principal of Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group; and Neil Baldwin BEM, better known as ‘Nello’ the Stoke City kit man and subject of the acclaimed BBC drama ‘Marvellous’.

Philip Atkins OBE, Leader of Staffordshire County Council, said:

Seeing Staffordshire people formally recognised by Her Majesty for their unstinting efforts to help others is one of my favourite moments of the year.

So many Staffordshire people give so much to those around them that it is only right we should take a moment to celebrate their contribution and recognise their determination to make life better for their communities.”

Mr Ian Dudson CBE, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, said:

I am delighted that Her Majesty has honoured those who work so hard in our community to help the young, the less privileged and the vulnerable.

We congratulate all those from Staffordshire who have been honoured today by Her Majesty and we thank them all most sincerely for all their efforts.”
