The Summer Reading Challenge

Gadgetters - Summer Reading Challenge 2022 

Beginning 9 July in libraries across Staffordshire

Children across Staffordshire are invited to join the Summer Reading Challenge in libraries this summmer.

This year's theme is Gadgetters. The Reading Agency have teaming up with the Science Museum Group for a very special science-themed Challenge that will inspire you to use your imagination and creativity!

How to take part in the challenge

  • Visit 1 - From Saturday 9 July visit your local library to join the challenge. You will recieve a poster and a set of stickers. Borrow 3 books, they can be any book you like and take them home to read!

  • Visit 2 - Once you have read your 3 books visit your local library to return them, and borrow 3 more! Collect your second set of stickers. Did you remember to sign up for an event or activity too!

  • Visit 3 - Complete your challenge! Return your books and collect your certificate, medal, bookmark and stickers. The reading fun doesn't have to stop there! Why not borrow some more books and continue to be a reading champion!

The Summer Reading Challenge - Mini Challenge aged 0 - 3

The Mini Challenge is a bite sized version of the Summer Reading Challenge for our youngest readers. Children collect stickers on a special collector card for the books they borrow and read.

How does the mini challenge work?

  • Sign up at your local library
  • Choose any books your child likes
  • Share the stories together
  • Collect a sticker for each book
  • Collect 5 stickers to finish and earn a gold medal sticker

Recommended age for the challenge is nursery and primary aged children
