Arts & Health

Libraries & Arts Service works with various cultural health & wellbeing partners to deliver projects that support the health and wellbeing of local people and help communities to feel Healthier, Happier & Connected.

A Sense of Place

A Sense of Place is a place-based project exploring what people love about where they live, discovering the ‘extraordinary in the ordinary’ on our doorstep, through seeing, making & sharing art. This project is a collaboration of regional cultural partners led by Creative Health CIC and involving high quality creative residencies, participatory workshops & events with local diverse communities.

Locally, we are working in partnership with Staffordshire Archives & Heritage to deliver a creative residency in the Stafford area which will launch in January 2023.

Artists, Juneau Projects will work with local communities to explore the county’s museum collections & connections to nature and local green spaces to inspire creative work.

Working with Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, we will be delivering activity in Stafford Libraries and inviting participants with low level mental health issues, those at risk of loneliness and isolation & people with physical disabilities to take part.

More information on activities will be posted here in the new year, for more info email.

A Sense of PLace is funded by Arts Council National Lottery Project Grants.

CreateSpace

CreateSpace and CreateMore Space are past projects delivered in partnership with Creative Health CIC supporting people to make time to be creative in their everyday lives and make connections with others through sharing art.

During lockdown people were encouraged to take part in weekly activities designed and created by artists Sarah Taylor Silverwood and Juneau Projects, to chat online about creativity and share work with each other.

The project centred on the idea of taking time in daily life to be creative and making time to connect - spending a small part of the day or week doing a creative activity can have a positive impact on overall wellbeing.

During the project, regular posts were shared through Staffordshire Libraries social media.

All activities can now be viewed on our Staffordshire Libraries Activity Resource website under Staffordshire CreateSpace.
