Environmental Impact

''The road will be a single carriageway with a 30mph limit, lit along its length and complete with new cycle ways and footpaths.

To keep road noise to a minimum, the road will be surfaced with materials which will reduce traffic noise while being hard wearing and skid resistant.

At the planning application stage, a full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) will be required to ascertain the impact of these proposals and specify an appropriate scheme of mitigation measures.  This will be prepared by independent environmental specialists commissioned by the county council.

For the consultation, the environmental impact of each route was considered.  The findings are shown in the following reports:

Issues - ecology, mitigation, landscape, sustainable transport and traffic noise

Issues - biodiversity

Environmental impacts were assessed in more detail in the Major Scheme Business Case.
