(40 MPH Speed Limit) Order 20**
1. Staffordshire County Council propose to make a Traffic Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to impose a 40 mph speed limit on A5127 Birmingham Road, Claypit Lane and Fosseway Lane (Lichfield).
2. This Order will revoke the 50 M.P.H Order on A5127 Birmingham Road, Lichfield in so far as it relates to this Order.
3. Documents may be examined during office hours at 1 Staffordshire Place, Tipping Street, Stafford, ST16 2DH and during opening hours at Lichfield Library, The Guild of St Mary’s Centre, Market Square, Lichfield, Staffordshire, WS13 6LG.
4. Objections should be sent in writing to: Strategic Asset and Network Management, Highways, 2 Staffordshire Place, Tipping Street, Stafford, ST16 2DH or to: trafficregulationorderobjections@staffordshire.gov.uk not later than 23 April 2020 quoting reference HoCPS/TM/TR50/19 and stating the grounds on which they are made.

(40 MPH Speed Limit) Order 20**
The Staffordshire County Council ("the Council") in exercise of its powers under Sections 84(1) and (2) and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 ("the Act") and all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby makes the following Order:-
1. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 mph on the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Order.
2. No speed limit imposed by this Order applies to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.
3. This Order will revoke the 50 M.P.H Order on A5127 Birmingham Road, Lichfield in so far as it relates to this Order.
4. This Order may be cited as the Staffordshire County Council (A5127 Birmingham Road, Claypit Lane and Fosseway Lane (Lichfield)) (40 mph Speed Limit) Order 20** and shall come into operation on day of 20**.
Schedule
A5127 Birmingham Road, Lichfield – from a point approximately 130 metres south of the centre of the A5127 Birmingham Road/ Falkland Road roundabout, in a southerly direction for a distance of approximately 320 metres.
Claypit Lane, Lichfield – from a point approximately 100 metres south west of its junction with A461 Falkland Road, in a south westerly direction for a distance of approximately 150 metres.
Fosseway Lane, Lichfield – from the extent of the current 40 MPH limit, in a westerly direction for a distance of approximately 12 metres.

Statement of Reasons
Staffordshire County Council, acting on behalf of the developer, is proposing to implement 40mph speed limits on A5127 Birmingham Road, C0306 Claypit Lane and D3103 Fosseway Lane.
The speed limits are required in the interests of road safety, to accommodate the new road alignment and to meet current design requirements for access and egress for the new residential and commercial developments off both A5127 Birmingham Road and C0306 Claypit Lane.
