Statement of Reasons

This proposal is required for road safety reasons, in order to prevent the parking of vehicles limiting junction visibility.

The Highway Authority has been made aware by both members of the public and highway users alike that vehicles are regularly stopping/waiting on the existing School Keep Clear road markings provided on Common Side, Gentleshaw n. Given the prevalence of vulnerable road users at this location together with the relatively high volume of traffic using the carriageway, it is proposed to ensure that the existing road markings are enforceable by means of a traffic order. The order is proposed by the Authority as part of its Divisional Highway Programme in order to promote the safety of highway users.
