Staffordshire's Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games events
On Wednesday 3 August, the sell-out mountain biking event took place on the nationally acclaimed trails at Birches Valley, Cannock Chase, with over 2,500 people turning out to watch it.
The county was also proud to host part of the cycling time trial events, which took part on the roads of Himley and Gospel End in South Staffordshire. The race gave hundreds of residents the opportunity to spectate at one of five free road events over the course of the games.
Both events brought some of the best athletes in the world to our county.
We worked with Cannock Chase Council, Forestry England, South Staffordshire Council, and the team at Birmingham 2022 to prepare for the games.
