Overview

Over the past few years, the way education works in Staffordshire and across the country has changed. Schools are becoming more independent from local authorities and as a result, there are new roles and responsibilities around school improvement.

By working together with Staffordshire’s 400 schools, we’re making sure that more and more children have access to a good education.

The number of schools rated as ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted has increased from 65% in August 2012 to 78% in August 2014. But we have further to go to achieve our aim of all schools being rated as ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ by 2020.

These pages explain the different roles in school improvement in Staffordshire and how you can play your part in making Staffordshire’s schools amongst the best in the country.
