Protect the future of Kidsgrove Library

Dear Ms Clarke,

I refer to the e-petition signed by local residents to request that Staffordshire County Council maintain the current facilities and employed, professional staffing levels at Kidsgrove Library and your letter dated 2 July 2018 containing the additional responses.  I note that this additional communication includes 28 letters written by students of Kings Church of England School, Kidsgrove.  I can advise you that receipt of the petition has been reported to Cllr Gill Heath, Cabinet Member for Communities and Cllr Gill Burnett, Newcastle – Kidsgrove Conservative Cabinet Support Member for Adult Safeguarding.

I am aware that you spoke to Catherine Mann on the day that the Libraries Cabinet paper was due to be published who explained that it was not possible to include details of the petition within the report.  However as Catherine explained, the petition was brought to the attention of the Prosperous Staffordshire Select Committee at their meeting on 20 June 2018 and Gill Heath, Cabinet Member for Communities is aware that additional responses to the petition have been received.

The Cabinet Report which will be considered by the County Council’s Cabinet on 18 July 2018 can be found on our website; www.staffordshire.gov.uk.  The report doesn’t include any specific recommendations in relation to Kidsgrove Library.

Thank-you for taking the time to organise the petition on behalf of your community and for submitting this to the County Council.

Should you require further information regarding your petition please contact Catherine Mann, Libraries & Arts Manager.

Yours sincerely,

Karen Screen (Mrs)

Business Support Co-ordinator
