Investigate the management of traffic on Westwood Grove and Jubilee Terrace

Dear Councillor Atkins,

I refer to the petition, signed by local residents regarding the request for an investigation into the movement of traffic flows on Grove Street, Westwood Terrace & Jubilee Terrace. I can advise you that receipt of the petition will be reported to Cllr Helen Fisher, Cabinet Member for Highways & Transport.

I wish to confirm that there are entries already on County Councillor Atkins’ Divisional Highway Programme (DHP) requesting a one-way for Grove Street and Jubilee Terrace and these have now had each of their statuses changed to a ‘New Issue’, and a note made to include Westwood Grove, for discussing with Councillor Atkins to determine if, and when, a more detailed investigation can be prioritised, bearing in mind that there are many competing demands for use of the limited DHP funding available each financial year.

As and when prioritised for investigation, and I do have to stress that I am unable to state when this will be possible, the preferred direction for the one-way would be considered, together with the estimated cost of implementation if it is practicable and there is sufficient support from the community. Please be aware that the implementation cost includes both the legal process and the physical works on site. Depending upon the signs required and whether they need to be illuminated the cost may be too high for the DHP and without any additional funding being available, if this is the case, no scheme could progress or it may have to be implemented over two years if it can be prioritised.

Should you require further information regarding your petition please contact David Greatbatch on (01538) 483022

Yours sincerely

Amanda Felton
