Coronation babies

Do you know someone having a baby in May?

We want to hear about babies born in Staffordshire on 6 May 2023, the date of King Charles Coronation, so that we can make a right royal fuss of them!

To celebrate the birth of babies born in Staffordshire on the day of the Coronation we're presenting them with a commemorative Coronation mug.

Over 3,500 births were registered in Staffordshire last year by our registrars, who welcome newborns to Staffordshire and create records that are important today and also for future generations.

We’ve been digging in the archives and unearthed an amazing photo of babies born on Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation Day, 2nd June 1953.

It’s just one of many photos showing how people across Staffordshire celebrated Coronations in the past.

Commemorative mug giveaway

We want to recreate the photo for 2023 and have ten commemorative mugs to give away.

The birth of every baby in Staffordshire is a cause for celebration and our registrars worked hard to register the birth of 3,555 babies in Staffordshire between January and December 2022.

Babies born on 6 May 2023 will go down in the history books as sharing their date of birth with the date of King Charles Coronation, it will be remembered as a special day.
