If someone's life is at risk because they have seriously injured themselves or taken an overdose, call 999.

  • Call the Samaritans - a confidential crisis support helpline, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Call 116 123.

  • NHS 111 - talk to a trained nurse for help and support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 111

  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) - support for young people experiencing emotional, behavioural or mental health difficulties:

    • North Staffordshire (covers Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffs Moorlands): call 0300 123 0907 and choose option 4, 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.

    • South Staffordshire (covers Stafford, Stone, Rugeley, Cannock, South Staffs, Lichfield, Burton, Uttoxeter, Tamworth): call 0808 196 3002.

  • Bipolar UK - a charity helping people living with manic depression or bipolar disorder

  • Mental Health Foundation - provides information and support for anyone with mental health problems or learning disabilities

  • No Panic - voluntary charity offering support for sufferers of panic attacks and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Offers a course to help overcome your phobia or OCD. Phone: 0844 967 4848 (daily, 10.00am to 10.00pm). Calls cost 5p per minute plus your phone provider's access charge
