Help at home

To stay living at home, it may be that you need just a little support from others. This could be for a range of tasks including washing, dressing, shopping, cleaning or general help around the home.

There is a variety of support that is available to you including:

Leaving hospital

If you are going into or have been in hospital, then you may need some short term support when you return home to help you recover.

When you are ready to be discharged by the hospital, you may be assessed to see if you need some help which known as intermediate or reablement support.

Making use of some types of equipment and technology or accessing some of the community support options listed at the top of this page could also help make a difference to your recovery.

Carers

If the person you care for is in hospital you may be faced with important decisions especially if their needs have now increased or changed.

You may also be considering taking on a caring role for the first time and don’t know what to expect.

See our carers page for information about who to contact and different types of support you can access as a carer.

Carers UK also have lots of useful advice, and there is a lot of equipment and technology that could also help you and someone you care for be more independent.
