Health and safety, insurance and DBS
Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS)
This local authorities' organisation is used to check contractors' health and safety compliance. The compliance check is valid for an 18 month period whereupon it would need to be re-checked.

Our requirements for insurance for the vast majority of contracts are:
- Public liability insurance level - minimum £5 million
- Employers liability insurance level - minimum £10 million
Depending on the type of contract, value and risk, you may also be required to provide professional indemnity insurance of at least £2 million.
The above limits relate to each and every claim.
Contract specific levels of insurance will always be stipulated within pre-qualifying questionnaires and/or invitation to tender documents.
