Frequently Asked Questions

Answer:

The developing strategy is an innovative approach to supporting and recruiting committed and skilled staff to the Staffordshire social care children’s and adults’ workforce.

Answer:

Across the country, demand for care and support is growing, so a larger, stronger and more resilient workforce across the sector is essential for continued quality care for people who draw on care and support.   Some of that is about having the right approach to recruit to the sector, and some is about supporting those in care to reap the benefits and to be supported in the right way to develop their career.

We want people to see social care as a long-term, positive and attractive option, with opportunity to progress, for those looking for a way to make a real difference.

Answer:

Providers, partners and stakeholders across the independent, private, public and voluntary sectors are working together to produce the strategy, including the NHS, universities, the voluntary sector and social care providers (children’s and adults). A countywide task group of representatives, led by the county council, are spearheading the development.   It is an expert-led strategy; extensive engagement has seen over 500 current and future workforce colleagues have their say on the current situation and what could improve things for the future.

Answer:

The strategy will aim to develop practical solutions and approaches for all providers and partners to better support the current workforce and attract the very best people into the sector into the future.

Answer:

Over 300 responses were received through the survey from organisations and individuals, and over 70 of our social care workforce came to the focus groups and all of this has been the basis of the strategy.  From this data we’re understanding the themes to understand what the strategy needs to cover.  We are also continuing to develop ‘Get Yours’, our ‘Benefits’ page of discounts and benefits that you can use.

Answer:

The draft strategy will be circulated to everyone who has had their say so far,  and representatives from the different sectors in October. We hope to publish the final Staffordshire Future Workforce Strategy from November.
