Daily living equipment and technology to help you stay independent for longer

Daily living equipment and technology (also called assistive technology) are items of equipment that can help you with your everyday tasks. They can support you to manage your own health and stay independent and safe in your own home.

The items don’t have to be expensive or technical. Things like jar openers, long-handled shoe horns and eye drop dispensers can be bought for less than £10. You can buy them from the local high street e.g. Argos, Wilko, pharmacies, pound shops and supermarkets, and also online.

Finding the right equipment for you

Some equipment can help make life easier. You can use our ‘interactive house’ below to help you decide what equipment may help you.

As well as our online recommendations, you may prefer to visit a local shop in Staffordshire. Take a look at Staffordshire Connects to find a range of local retailers. We encourage you to shop around once you have found the type of item you need.
