365 great things about Staffordshire - Staffordshire Summer Reading Challenge

Research shows that children can lose reading and maths skills over the summer when they're not using them. The Summer Reading Challenge is just one way you can help prevent this, it's running in  Staffordshire libraries and it's fun and it's completely free!

Aimed at children aged four to eleven, it encourages them to keep up their reading skills and confidence over the long summer break. The challenge involves reading six library books of their choice with rewards to collect along the way.

Just go along to your local library during the summer holidays (the sooner you go the longer your child will have to complete the challenge), library staff will register your child for the challenge and give them some fun materials to get them started.

This year the challenge is called Space Chasers, an out-of-this-world adventure inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.

Find your  nearest library on our handy libraries map.
