365 great things about Staffordshire - Europe's premier open-air Shakespeare production

Stafford Festival Shakespeare was established in 1991 and the event is now regarded as one of the top three open air Shakespeare Festivals in the country and has seen audiences grow and grow.

It is performed annually against the dramatic backdrop of Stafford Castle.

The performances have covered a vast range of The Bard's work, including romances, tragedies, comedies and histories

The event's reputation has grown ‘dramatically’ (do you see what we did there?) in recent years, attracting many accomplished and respected actors to play alongside experienced local actors.

In 2018 the curtain fell on most successful show in over a decade for Stafford Festival Shakespeare.

In 2018 the twenty eighth annual Stafford Festival Shakespeare production of Macbeth became one of the most successful shows on record for over a decade with 10,988 people attending a performance at Stafford Castle.

The 2019 Stafford Festival Shakespeare is now in full swing, bringing The Merchant of Venice to life from page to stage at the iconic venue.

It plays until 13 July this year (2019). Full information, tickets and news available on the  Stafford festival Shakespeare website
