Most children enjoy a happy childhood within their own family.
But, for a minority, their home life is not the safe and secure place it should be. The Staffordshire Safeguarding Children Board is made up of organisations across the county who work to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people up to the age of 18 in the county.
By sharing expertise and best practice we can make sure that children, young people and their families have access to the correct support and services they need.
The Board aims to protect children from maltreatment, ensure that they grow up in a safe environment and help them to have the best chances in life so they enter adulthood successfully.
The Board runs training for those who work with children and young people to help themspot signs of maltreatment and neglect. This year board members have also been working to keep children safe online.
Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Children and Lifelong Learning County Councillor Robert Simpson said: "We can only help keep children safe with everyone's help. We all share a responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in our community. If you think a child is being harmed, please telephone the First Response Team at Staffordshire County Council or the Police straightaway. They will listen."
