Transparency at Staffordshire County Council

Making sure we take the best possible care of your money is now at the heart of every decision Staffordshire County Council makes.

We are committed to saving around £120 million over the next three years as our commitment to fighting the national debt. That is 30 per cent of our overall budget and will require commitment and imagination.

Everything we do must be customer-focused, affordable and fair for all. We will protect the vulnerable and limit the impact on our residents wherever possible.

We believe that it is important to be open and transparent when it comes to Council Expenditure, be it payments to our councillors, officers or suppliers.  As a public funded organisation, we have a duty to our residents to be transparent in our business operations and outcomes.

PDF Document Annual Governance Statement 2010/11|

Good governance of an authority involves having in place clear arrangements for overseeing what we do, ensuring that we carry out our business in line with the law and use public money economically, efficiently and effectively, accounting for it properly.

A Code of Corporate Governance has been introduced to ensure that we do things properly.  The Annual Governance Statement explains how we have followed the Code during the past year.
