Welcome: we are the Research Unit
The Research Unit underpins the strategic planning, highways and transportation work of the County Council by providing the key information which helps the Council's policy makers to understand the changing character, trends and issues affecting Staffordshire.
We assist with grant funding, provide policy guidance in key areas of strategic and regional planning, transportation and corporate activity. In addition we also carry out related advocacy, monitoring and research projects, as well as collecting, collating and disseminating policy driven information (supporting Local Area Agreements). Beside all of this we are also spearheading the use of Geographical Information Systems and Ordnance Survey mapping within the Council.
Much of the information we hold and the reports that we produce are available on these pages. The information is continually updated, so please visit regularly to see what has been added. The information available on the Research Unit webpages is freely available for use by everyone. Care should be taken when reproducing any of the information to acknowledge copyright in the appropriate way. If you need advice, please contact the
Research Unit. Our information is grouped into 8 broad themes, including the 5
Local Area Agreement priorities:
- Population
- European Policy
- Children & Young People
- Healthier Communities & Older People
- Safer & Stronger Communities
- Economic Development & Enterprise
- Sustainable Development
