Children and Young People

Rural school

Approximately a quarter of the population of Staffordshire is under nineteen years old, and all deserve a good quality of life. The Children Act 2004 introduced a new approach to meeting the needs of children and young people by focusing on changing the way that services are delivered to deliver better outcomes.

Local Authorities now have a duty to make arrangements to promote co-operation between partner agencies in order to improve children's well being, and an obligation on these partners to take part in the co-operation arrangements.

Within this section you will find data and information about the children and young people of Staffordshire helping to paint a picture of who they are, and what their needs are.

Much of the information revolves around the 'Every Child Matters' framework which also fits in with the Local Area Agreements, the County Council's Corporate Strategy and the sub-regional Community Strategy.
