Councillor Question Time

Welcome to the Councillor Question Time

Watch a video of a Councillor Question Time event to get a taste of what it's all about.

Here at Staffordshire County Council we are always looking for better ways in which to engage with the citizens of the county.  We take the views and opinions of local people very seriously.  What you tell us is vital in shaping the services of the county council.

Councillor Question Time is one way in which you can communicate with key members and senior officers at Staffordshire County Council.

Councillor Question Time moves around the county once a month and local people are invited to come along and put any question to the panel members.  This could be a local question, a county-wide question or why not ask them about key stories in the national press if you wish.

Hosted by ITV Central's news anchor, Bob Warman, the panel usually consists of a Cabinet member, two or three local county councillors, and a senior officer from the organisation.  Bob is a totally independent host and views expressed by individuals at these events are not necessarily his views.

Usually lasting between one hour and 90-minutes, there is also a chance to meet the panel and Bob afterwards with light refreshments supplied.

To ensure we have a good mix of audience members, a pool of random local residents are written to inviting them to attend.  This process is totally 'blind' of any interest groups, age, gender and political leanings.  We do this in addition to a general invitation to the public via the local media.

Audience members are given the opportunity to write down their questions on arrival.  Panel members do not know the questions beforehand and in no way are panel members coached for the event.
