Political Parties and Elections

County Council elections are held every four years.  The next election will be held on 4 June 2009. 

There are currently:-

32 Labour councillors led by Councillor John Taylor

27 Conservative councillors led by Councillor Philip Atkins

2 Liberal Democrat councillors led by Councillor Mrs. Christina Jebb

1 Independent councillor - Bill Day

The election results for May 2005 are available here.  Since this election there have been three by-elections in Cheadle and Checkley, Keele and Westlands and Newcastle Rural.
