We know that one of your main priorities is to feel safe where you live.

The county council works with other partners, such as Staffordshire Police, to make this a reality.

Picture of car incidentOur vision is for individuals, neighbourhoods and communities to feel safe in Staffordshire, and to be increasingly free from crime and fear of crime.  Communities will become stronger and more able to work with us to deliver improving and appropriate services for a better quality of life.  We will invest £17.5m over three years to achieve this.

Consumer advice

We will:

  • reduce overall crime in Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership areas
  • increase the number of domestic violence incidents reported to Staffordshire Police
  • Reduce the proportion of recorded domestic violence incidents that are repeat incidents in the previous twelve months
  • Reduce the number of young people who reoffend within two years
  • Increase the percentage of residents who feel very or fairly safe outside in Staffordshire during the day and after dark
  • Increase the percentrage of residents who feel that they can influence decisions affecting their local area
  • Reduce the number of incidents of anti-social behavious recorded by Staffordshire Police
  • Reduce the number of adults and children killed and seriously injured on the roads in Staffordshire.

What we've already done

We're constantly developing new services and initiatives to help you stay safe.  Here's just a few of them:

  • No-win, no-fee - The national Claims Management Monitoring and Compliance Unit, which is provided by Staffordshire County Council under contract to the Ministry of Justice, regulates claims management businesses, such as 'no- win no fee' companies on a national scale.  The unit has just been given the thumbs up from the County Council's Network as a beacon of good practice, and is now expanding to cope with the huge surge in companies needing authorisation to trade. It has been hugely successful in protecting consumers against rogue companies

and much more.
