Our services

Staffordshire County Council provides most of the public services in Staffordshire.

The council:

• serves more than 800,000 people.
• provides a host of public services ranging from the local education service and 400 schools to libraries, social care and health services, fostering and adoption, trading standards, transport and highways, countryside and much more.
• employs a diverse team of experts ranging from scientists and planners to teachers, economists, business speciliasts and cleaners.
• is steered by 62 councillors who are elected every four years.

 

Our achievements

Staffordshire County Council's achievements across key services over the last year have been significant.

• The Audit Commission recently inspected us and described the county council as 'improving well,' reporting that the 'overall quality of life in Staffordshire is improving.'

Children and young people

Children and young people living Staffordshire, including those children in care, are achieving and educational attainment has improved considerably over the last year.
