Frequently asked questions

Q. Can the council's Communications team write press releases and produce publicity material for me?

A. Unless you have been awarded over £1500 you will need to write the press release and produce the publicity materials yourself. Use the press release template attached here. You can call the Communications team on 01785 854014 for advice. If you have been awarded £1500 or more, call the team before you do anything to discuss your publicity plans.

Q. Do I have to carry out some publicity?

A. Yes; it is part of your agreement on accepting your grant. But it's easy! Just use the press release and poster templates here.

Q. Who should I talk to about contacting the local press?

A. If you are unsure about any aspect of dealing with the press contact the Communications team on 01785 854014. We can advise you on anything from when to send your press release to

what to do if you find out that a journalist may criticise you (although this is very unlikely to happen!)

Q. When should we ask the press to visit our project or initiative?

A.You can actually ask the press to attend at any time but you must make sure that there is something for them to see or someone to talk to. Think carefully about why you want them to come and who they are going to talk to.

Q. I'd like some help organising an event. Who should I contact?

A. Contact the Communications Department on 01785 854014. We can help organise politicians to visit and give you some essential guidance.

Q. Am I using the correct logo artwork?

A.You should be using the 'rolling hill' on all the promotional materials for your project if it has been majority funded by the LMIS scheme. If your project has only been minority funded by the LMIS scheme, just use the SCC basic logo.

Q. Am I using it in the correct size?

A.The green hill should be used across the entire width of the poster or publicity material. The SCC basis logo must be no smaller in length than 35mm.

Q. Am I using it in the correct colour?

A.You should be using the green hill or logo in anything you produce that is in colour. You can use black versions if you are producing black and white versions.
