As your local county councillor I have been allocated £10,000 to spend on community projects in the Biddulph North area.
This year I'm taking part in an exciting new pilot scheme which will give everyone the opportunity to influence the future of where they live, help to generate community pride and pull our community together.
It is now down to all applicants to drum up support for their project. Publicity guidance can be downloaded by clicking on the document image on the right hand side of the page.
I have been asked to support the following projects:-

BN1 |
Biddulph District Guides has 165 members aged between 5 and 14, 11 young leaders and 22 adult members all meeting in their own units. They would like to meet as a District during November and are asking for cash to hold a Christmas craft workshop. |

BN2 |
Biddulph Youth Theatre Experience wants to stage a pantomime at the end of January 2009 that will involve 40 young people. They are asking for cash towards the production costs. |

BN3 |
Home-Start offers a unique service, recruiting and training parent volunteers to visit families with at least one child under five. Referrals for the scheme from the Biddulph area are closed because of a lack of funds. A grant would help fund six months work in the Biddulph area. |

BN4 |
Oxhey First School have a two phase project to set up an outdoor learning environment and grow vegetables. Funding for phase one of the project is to provide free standing planters, a greenhouse, tables, tools, books and vegetable seeds. |

BN5 |
Knypersley Cricket Club wants funding to buy a new lawnmower to cut and prepare their cricket wickets on the square. They have junior teams from under 9's to under 17's and four senior teams. They also have a new girls/ladies team. |

BN6 |
St. Lawrence Church Pre-school plans to build a safe play and garden area at the rear of the Church Hall. They need cash towards grassing and fencing the area to make it safe for the toddler and youth groups using the hall on a regular basis. |

Biddulph Moor Evergreen Club are a group of people aged 60 - 92 who has 85 members. They are asking for cash to give their members a harvest tea and Christmas Party with entertainment. |

BN8 |
St. Lawrence Church runs a week long Summer children's holiday club called Vibes for 140 local children ages 4 - 13. They want to expand this work and offer additional events starting with an alternative to Halloween. They need cash towards setting up. |

BN9 |
Biddulph Citizens' Advice Bureau uses IT and Internet based systems as a resource for gathering information, welfare benefit calculation and for recording client details. They need cash to buy a laptop, Microsoft Office 2007 software and licenses which would improve efficiency. |

BN10 |
Biddulph in Bloom are going to lose all their storage space in February 2009. They need cash to buy a large garden shed which will be erected in a locked compound to store tools and equipment. |

BN11 |
Biddulph Moor Parish Church needs cash to buy a double electric oven with a separate hob to replace the cooker that hasn't worked for two years. The hall is used by guides, brownies, rainbows and for funeral teas, church social activities and a breakfast club. |

BN12 |
Biddulph Moor Village Hall wants cash to buy 45 new chairs. Their current chairs are old and need replacing. |

BN13 |
Park Lane Allotments has very poor access which means that all materials have to be brought onto the allotments by hand. There is a path going across the allotments which is in need of repair. They want cash to remove the waste and infill the path. |

BN14 |
The Victoria Centre provides meeting rooms for voluntary and community groups. They provide a range of office facilities to users which include a computer, printer and photocopier. They want cash to replace their laserjet printer. |

BN15 |
Woodhouse Middle School wants cash to create a wildlife area at the school. There is a large overgrown wooded area and pond. They are planning to rejuvenate the area for use as a resource to support the curriculum and directly benefit the community and environment. |

BN16 |
Brown Lees Residents' Association are trying to raise their profile in the community. They need cash towards administration costs, hire of a meeting room, a noticeboard, village signs, fundraising events and village plantings. |

BN17 |
Biddulph Park Residents' Association wants to adopt a BT telephone kiosk on the corner of Biddulph Park Road and Newtown Road. The box would be adopted to preserve the general appearance of the area and be used to provide an information point for travellers and local residents. |
The voting period started on 1 October and will finish at noon on 31 October. Results will be announced in the local press and be published on this website by the end of November.
