As your local county councillor I have been allocated £10,000 to spend on community projects in Bagnall, Stanley, Biddulph East, Biddulph South, Brown Edge, Endon, Stockton Brook, Greenway Bank and Cowall Moor.
This year I'm taking part in an exciting new pilot scheme which will give everyone the opportunity to influence the future of where they live, help to generate community pride and pull our community together.
It is now down to all applicants to drum up support for their project. Publicity guidance can be downloaded by clicking on the document image on the right hand side of the page.
I have been asked to support the following projects:-

BS1 |
Endon Kindergarten wants cash to establish community sessions for parents/carers and pre-school children. The programme would run for a six week period and be based on family yoga and relaxation classes to encourage interaction between parent and child. |

BS2 |
Staffordshire Moorlands Area Command Fire and Rescue Service wants cash to buy protective tunics and leggings for students, protective clothing for instructors and hi-visibility vests for students and instructors who are taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. |

BS3 |
Biddulph High School wants cash to fund a local student cultural exchange with a Stoke school to allow students to meet positive role models from Muslim, Hindu and Sikh cultures and take part in RE lessons and assemblies over a one week period. |

BS4 |
Brown Edge Play Group needs cash to buy some new tables and chairs for use by the children for various play activities. |

BS5 |
Endon with Stanley Action Group wants cash to set up a café style drop in centre for young people aged between 11 and 16 to enable them to meet in a safe and secure environment. Activities like table tennis, snooker and computer games will be on offer. |

BS6 |
The Biddulph Toy and Equipment Library has been open since April 2008. They have found that there is a high demand for certain equipment and they have a waiting list. They are looking for cash to buy items such as space hoppers, tumbling mats etc. |

BS7 |
Biddulph Youth Theatre Experience wants to stage a pantomime at the end of January 2009 that will involve 40 young people. They are asking for cash towards the production costs. |

BS8 |
Bagnall Heights residents lounge has two large floor to ceiling windows which cover a large area. The majority of residents are elderly or inform, who feel the cold. Cash is needed to fit blinds to the windows to keep out the draughts. |

BS9 |
The Residents' Association of Moorlands Court, a sheltered housing complex, organises social events for their residents and other visitors. They need cash to buy a fridge freezer, a microwave and kitchen utensils to use in their newly extended kitchen. |

BS10 |
Bank House Day Centre is run by a charitable trust for elderly people who Social Services nominate to attend. The bathing service they offer is much appreciated but the specialised bath needs replacing. They also need cash to replace the washer and dryer. |

BS11 |
The Recycled Teenagers Club encourages physical and social activities for pensioners in Biddulph. They want cash to pay for speakers and encourage new activities such as flower arranging, bingo, gentle exercise and quizzes. |

BS12 |
Endon Village Hall Management Committee needs cash to improve the outdoor paved area outside Endon Village Hall by providing a paved area, a shrubbed area and seating. The area would be well used during the summer months by the users of the hall. |

BS13 |
St. Chad's Church., Bagnall wants to provide a disabled toilet. This work will include moving the kitchen to the rear of the church and removing some pews and replacing them with comfortable stacking chairs. They are looking for cash to pay for 20 chairs. |

BS14 |
Bagnall Village Hall is in desperate need of renovation. They need cash to renovate plaster and paintwork and to decorate the main hall and meeting room to encourage use by the local community. The rooms are drab and this deters bookings. |

BS15 |
Biddulph in Bloom wants to improve the roundabout on Kingsfield Road. The roundabout was the subject of community pride but sadly not maintained. The group wants cash to buy landscaping fabric, plants and bark mulch and remove weeds. |

BS16 |
Kingsfield First School wants cash to improve their school grounds and their Eco-schools status. They aim to provide a stimulating and sustainable outdoor learning environment for the children. |

BS17 |
Park Lane Allotments has very poor access which means that all materials have to be brought onto the allotments by hand. There is a path going across the allotments which is in need of repair. They want cash to remove the waste and infill the path. |

BS18 |
The 'J' gang meet in the Sandy Lane Centre and are asking for cash to install a hot water boiler in the kitchen. This will be available for all users of the centre. |
|
BS19 |
The Knypersley Community Association wants to provide a sense of identity to Knypersley by placing signs with the village name on the approaches from the North and South. They want cash to buy these signs. |
The voting period started on 1 October and will finish at noon on 31 October. Results will be announced in the local press and be published on this website by the end of November.
