Making a Difference: Scrutiny at Staffordshire County Council
Scrutiny Annual Work Programme
In order to provide a framework for their work, each Scrutiny and Performance Panel and Committee prepares an Annual Work Programme.
The Work Programmes focus on the following key areas:
• Scrutiny Review and Policy Development
• Performance Monitoring and Management
• Reviewing health and health services
• Strategic issues
• Delivery of Staffordshire's Local Area Agreement
• Responding to consultation
• Scrutinising and mapping partnership working
The Work Programmes are flexible and reviewed and updated by the Scrutiny and Performance Panels and Committees throughout the year to reflect emerging issues and priorities.
The development of each Work Programmes continues throughout the year but there is a particular focus between January and March where general consensus on the priorities for the coming year is sought.
The Work Programmes are shaped by:
• Corporate priorities, as reflected in the issues contained in the Strategic Plan, Corporate Improvement Plan and Thematic Improvement Plans
• Issues raised through inspections of the County Council and associated services by internal and external bodies
• Performance issues that come to light as a result of performance monitoring by the Corporate Policy Scrutiny and Performance Committee
