About Scrutiny

Scrutiny at Staffordshire County Council: What is Overview and Scrutiny?

Overview and Scrutiny is one of the ways in which County Councillors ensure that the people of Staffordshire are receiving the best possible services from the County Council.  Scrutiny Committees help the County Council's decision makers to develop policies and consider options for service improvement. They can also check that services are being delivered in the most efficient and effective way and make recommendations for improvement.

We don't just look at services delivered by the County Council; we also look at services provided by local partners, like the NHS and police.

Eight scrutiny committees, made up of County Councillors carry out this work. Find out more about the committees here.| | |
