Information Governance

 

Information Governance:  Information Governance is the process that allows an organisation to manage its information in an efficient, effective and secure way whilst maintaining the balance between confidentiality and openness.

Within Staffordshire County Council, Information Governance is managed by the Information Governance Unit, which is part of the Law & Democracy Division.  The Unit addresses the creation, management, access, privacy and security of information within the Council through:

  • ensuring the efficient and effective management of SCC information through its lifecycle
  • ensuring that appropriate access is maintained to all information where a legal right exists
  • ensuring that appropriate privacy and security is maintained for all information and to the systems which manage that information
  • realisation of business benefits through management of the information life cycle
  • ensuring the highest standards of quality exist within the services we provide
