Staffordshire Local Government Association - Joint Waste Management Board

The Joint Waste Management Board is a joint committee of the Staffordshire Local Government Association, whose membership is made up of representatives of each of the eight borough/district councils in Staffordshire, the County Council and Stoke-on-Trent City Council. Its main functions are:

(a) To recommend a Municipal Waste Management Strategy (MWMS) for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent for adoption by each of the constituent authorities.

(b) To oversee the development and implementation of the MWMS and to make recommendations to the constituent authorities.

(c) To consider the implications of the non-adoption of the MWMS by any of the constituent authorities and to make any consequential recommendations.

(d) To consider a joint approach to bidding for external funding of the MWMS and to make recommendations to the constituent authorities.

(e) As the MWMS develops, to consider whether these terms of reference are the most appropriate to achieve the effective and timely implementation of the MWMS and to recommend to constituent authorities any necessary changes.

The Joint Waste Board meet quarterly, with meetings usually being held at County Buildings, Stafford.
