Biography of the Chairman
Frank Lewis, MBE, JP
I was born in 1931 At Birchenfields Farm, Armitage where I still live with my wife Barbara. We have two daughters and five grandchildren. I went to Armitage Croft School and Rugeley Grammar School, when I left school I became a farmer and retired from farming in 1985.
I became a Parish and District Councillor in 1976 and served as the Conservative Deputy Group Leader and Group Treasurer. I became the Chairman of Lichfield District Council in 1989/90 and have been Chairman for many groups over the years.
I have been a member of Armitage with Handsacre Parish Council for 32 years and stood down in 2007. For several years I was a member of the Staffordshire Police Authority.
I became a magistrate in 1980 until 2001 and was the last Chairman of the Rugeley Bench when it amalgamated with Mid-Staffordshire Bench in 2000.
I have been a member of Staffordshire County Council since 1977 representing Lichfield Rural North Division with alterations by the boundary Commission to Lichfield Rural West Division.
