Face-to-face meetings will strengthen partnerships
Delivering local services is all about partnership working these days.
We have Local Area Agreements (LAAs) in place in all eight districts within Staffordshire. This lays out how the county council, district councils, voluntary sector and emergency services should all work together.
Because these partnerships are so crucial one of my first priorities is to meet personally with as many of our partner organisations as possible.
And we have just kicked this process off with a very productive and enjoyable meeting with Stafford Borough Council. I was accompanied by our Chief Executive, Nigel Pursey, for the meeting with the borough's Chief Executive, David Rawlings and my opposite number, Judith Delgarno.
I don't think there's anything like a face-to-face meeting to discuss issues, and we managed to talk about a good deal in our time together. Hopefully it will lead to even closer co-operation between the authorities.
We will be holding these meetings with the other seven district councils in the near future.
