The 'My county council' campaign - telling you about how hard your money works
Over the last couple of weeks you may have noticed posters in poster-sites up and down the county telling you about how we support over 400 schools and 123,000 pupils to achieve, and make over 3,500 miles of Staffordshire's roads safer. It's all part of telling you about what we do and about what other services you can take advantage of.
I know that some of you may feel that you don't benefit at all from paying your council tax, but nothing could be further from the truth. From schools and roads to the countryside, to job generation and community safety initiatives and social care, we are now providing more and better services for less money. The 'My county council' will tell you all about this over the coming months and will hopefully inform the 2 out of 3 people in the county who don't know what their local council does.
The campaign will also give you the opportunity to find out how you can have your say in the decisions that affect your local area, by highlighting the role of county's 62 county councillors. They are democratically elected by you to represent your community when decisions are made that have local, county-wide, regional and national implications. Make sure that you contact them to have your say.
I do hope that you take the opportunity to get involved in the campaign by finding out how we spend your money and contacting your county councillor.
