Residential Design Guide
Staffordshire County Council (acting as the Highway Authority) worked with the Staffordshire Borough/District Councils to publish a residential design guide for Staffordshire in 2000.
The purpose of this guide is to bring together all the elements that help contribute towards cohesive housing layout design so that residential developments are sustainable and integrated.
There is flexibility within the guide to design residential roads in a way that complements the proposed form, proportion and layout of new development. This is to encourage innovative design and at the same time build roads that can be adopted as publicly maintainable highways.
