I've passed!

For many young people, passing their driving test is the key to independance.

However, although they only represent 10% of the population they account for around 40% of those killed or seriously injured on Staffordshire's roads.

A recent study of crashes involving young people has highlighted the following as being significant contributory factors:

  • Inexperience versus over confidence
  • Speeding or inappropriate speed
  • Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Not wearing seatbelts
  • Succumbing to peer pressure to drive inappropriately

Staffordshire County Council is working hard to reduce this worrying statistic and has developed a number of initiatives to support young people from the earliest stages of learning to drive right through to post test initiatives that can even reduce car insurance premiums.
