The County Council receives details of all injury accidents in the County reported to the Police. This data is used to produce a database from which the accompanying statistics are derived. By analysing casualty data resources both engineering and educational can be targeted whilst ensuring that an inclusive service is offered to the road users of Staffordshire.
In 2007 there were 316 people killed or seriously injured, a reduction of 42 on the previous year, this is a fantastic achievement yet still it equates to 6 people receiving life threatening injuries every week on our roads. The child KSI total fell from 32 to 21 (the lowest total ever) which was a 42% reduction on the 2005 total. Slight casualties fell by 117 to 4238.
