
Safer Driving Practice
Managing Risk on the Roads
The Road Safety & Sustainable Travel Unit has designed a course aimed at company car and high mileage drivers. The course, entitled 'Safer Driving Practice', aims to address the many issues associated with the increased risks experienced by this group of drivers.
Experienced Road Safety Officers, all of whom come from a driver training background, deliver the theory element, while qualified Approved Driving Instructors, all of which are experienced in the delivery of defensive driving techniques, conduct the practical sessions.
Half day in-class session which includes:
- Drivers Attitude & Behaviour
- Defensive Driving Techniques
- Impairment & Distractions
- Incident Avoidance scenarios
- Highway Code knowledge
Following the theory session:
- A practical assessment with feedback will be conducted followed by advice on defensive driving techniques.
- A written report will be given to each driver at the conclusion of the practical session.
