As car ownership continues to grow the
pressure on Staffordshire's roads mounts.
With more people taking to the roads every year some selfish people think that they can park wherever they want, regardless of the law and the effect their bad parking has on everyone else.
Unfortunately in their eagerness to park close to their destination these rogue parkers can block roads, hinder emergency services, disrupt local businesses and put pedestrians at risk.
Staffordshire's council's are working closely together to crack down on inconsiderate drivers who make the streets a misery for everybody else.
On these pages we will direct you to information which will:
- help you to plan your journey by linking you to maps showing car parks managed by the County Council and eventually other councils throughout Staffordshire. These pages will be added as soon as possible;
- explain how we are 'policing' rogue parking through the Clear Streets initiative
- explain how Residents Parking Schemes work and
- present you with the technical guidelines and policies which underpin the work we do.
While we do our bit, you can help too by leaving your car at home whenever you can. How we choose to get about is not an isolated issue - it affects our health, economy and the environment.
Pollution from transport is one of the biggest sources of carbon dioxide one of the cocktail of gases thought to be driving climate change - and the more we drive, the worse it gets.
If you use your car for work take a look at a car share scheme like Share-a-Lift which will put you in touch with people looking for suitable partners to share their cars with.
