In line with increased allocations of capital funding direct to schools, through Devolved Formula Capital (DFC), the Local Authority (LA) has seen a sustained reduction in the capital grant it receives from the Department for Education. As this trend continues, it is increasingly important that schools engage with the principles of Asset Management Planning and the LA’s Capital Strategy.
The LA will not be able to resolve all significant issues immediately and the joined up planning of short, medium and long term investment sources - local, regional, and national - is increasingly significant.
Schools and their governing bodies must agree the highest priority AMP issues within their school and come up with an investment plan to tackle these issues. Development Officers (DO) from Strategy and Performance will continue to work with schools to develop School-based Asset Management Plans during the coming months and years.
Changes to your AMP Data
There may have been changes to your school since the last AMP survey was undertaken – you may have undertaken a building extension or improvement, or an element may be deteriorating at an accelerated rate. Please notify your DO at your termly / annual meeting so that the AMP data can capture these changes.
