Course content - What you will learn

This course will take your existing knowledge and skills of IT and help you to develop them further in readiness for the workplace. As part of the programme you will learn more about using emails, the internet, Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as ensuring you know how to stay safe online. Equally, there will be sections that cover how to use basic AI and how to identify scams produced by AI Content. 

Who is the course aimed at?

This course is for those who are actively seeking volunteering, employment opportunities or are in an office work role and wanting to develop their skills using software packages such as Power Point, Microsoft Word and Excel. Skills developed will help to benefit their current roles and potentially support progression to other roles. 

Entry requirements

Staffordshire residents aged 19+. Learners who would like to develop their knowledge of key office computer skills to develop a current or future employment role. 

Learning methods - how you will learn

The trainer will deliver the course in a friendly and welcoming classroom environment. You will have the opportunity to work independently and with your classmates in a range of activities and discussions.

All session are adapted according to the individual needs of learner. 

Learning materials - what you will need to bring

All equipment required for the course will be provided by Acorn Training.  

Course assessments - how you will be assessed

No formal assessments will take place. Learner’s work and interactions on the course will be informally assessed with constructive feedback provided by tutors. Whilst on the course learners will complete an Individual Learning plan recording comments, feedback and work completed. 

What can learners do next / progress onto

Throughout your course you will be provided with information and advice about other learning opportunities available to you as well as support to find employment or volunteering opportunities. Progression opportunities may include other Staffordshire Community Learning courses, accredited courses in areas such as maths, English or Digital available with Acorn Training or local colleges.
