Who is the course aimed at?

This course is aimed at Staffordshire residents aged 19 and over.  It is designed for those with some very basic knowledge of using a smart phone. Wanting to build confidence in schedule appointments, downloading and saving files, organising your phone, saving attachments from emails, video calls and using QR codes.

Course Content

This course looks at using your smart phone to assist you and improve your productivity in work or everyday life. You will explore different apps, including internet, emails, files, calendar, and camera. You will learn how to schedule appointments, download and save files, organise your phone freeing up space, save attachments from emails, video calls and use QR codes to access forms and information. 

Learning Methods

Teaching will include a tutor led session in small groups, 1:1 tuition, tutor demonstration, quizzes, and practical exercises.  You will work at your own pace and will complete the activities using your device or the library computer. Your learning progress will be recorded. 

Learning Support

Your tutor will support you throughout your learning journey.  Your tutor will get to know you and what you want to achieve and include this in the delivery of session.  You will also have the opportunity to have some one-to-one time with your tutor. 

Course Assessments

Through the session you will complete a number of tasks relevant to your learning.  Your tutor will give you feedback using an Individual Learning Plan, this will record your learning and your achievement.

Learning Materials

You will need to provide your Date of Birth, Postcode and proof of ID (passport, national ID card, driver's licence). For the session you will need a smart phone and charger, a pen, a note pad and a documents folder. 

What can learner’s do next/progress onto?

Your tutor will provide you with information and advice about other learning opportunities. You can progress onto a digital skills course.  You may also want to gain a qualification to help you develop more skills for everyday life or for employment.  You can also learn at home using Learn My Way, Skills wise or BBC Bitesize websites.
