Course content - What you will learn

As part of this course you will build on your skills and knowledge to help you in the pursuit of work or advancing your skills in order to be ready for work as well. As part of the programme you will look at your CV, transferrable skills and positive behaviours, interview techniques and much more! Also, this programme is co-designed to ensure that students who are neurodivergent get specialist knowledge on how to overcome barriers at work, how to ensure they know how to ask for reasonable adjustments at work and what sort of reasonable adjustments could be available to people in those types of work as well. 

Who is the course aimed at?

This course is specifically aimed at those who are diagnosed as Neurodivergent and want to develop their understanding of how to address their needs in the workplace. Learners will develop their skills and confidence to successfully apply for work and attend interviews. Learners will also learn about how to have conversations with employers about addressing their individual needs to ensure the workplace is successful and supportive. 

Entry requirements

Staffordshire residents aged 19+. Aimed at learners who are formally diagnosed as Neurodivergent. Potential enrolled learners can seek further guidance at the initial assessment stage. 

Learning methods - how you will learn

The trainer will deliver the course in a friendly and welcoming classroom environment. You will have the opportunity to work independently and with your classmates in a range of activities and discussions.

All session are adapted according to the individual needs of learner. 

Learning materials - what you will need to bring

All equipment required for the course will be provided by Acorn Training.  

Course assessments - how you will be assessed

No formal assessments will take place. Learner’s work and interactions on the course will be informally assessed with constructive feedback provided by tutors. Whilst on the course learners will complete an Individual Learning plan recording comments, feedback and work completed. 

What can learners do next / progress onto

Throughout your course you will be provided with information and advice about other learning opportunities available to you as well as support to find employment or volunteering opportunities. Progression opportunities may include other Staffordshire Community Learning courses, accredited courses in areas such as maths, English or Digital available with Acorn Training or local colleges.
