This course teaches practical gardening skills including sowing seeds, planting, propagating, plant care and basic garden maintenance. You will learn how to grow vegetables, support wildlife in the garden and manage pests naturally. The course also includes flower arranging, healthy eating and simple cooking using fresh ingredients. Sessions are hands-on and supportive, helping you build confidence while developing new skills.

Learning materials

All materials will be provided, including seeds, gardening tools and soil. However, if you have your own gardening gloves, boots or tools that you prefer to use, you are welcome to bring them. Our site includes polytunnels with seating and raised beds at different heights, making gardening accessible and comfortable for everyone, while offering a fun, practical learning experience.

You will learn through a mix of hands-on gardening, sowing seeds, propagating, plant care, and wildlife gardening, alongside classroom-based learning covering healthy eating, cooking, flower arranging, and conservation topics. Sessions include demonstrations, discussions, and practical activities to build confidence and skills in a supportive environment.

We offer personalised support to help you succeed in your gardening journey. Whether you need extra guidance, one-on-one assistance, or resources like tools and reference materials, we are here for you. Our friendly tutors provide regular feedback, encourage your progress, and ensure you feel confident. We are dedicated to making your gardening experience enjoyable and accessible to all learners.

Course Assessments

You will be assessed through practical activities that demonstrate your learning and progress.
