Holiday Activities and Food - Questions and Answers

How do I book?

Eligible families receive a HAF code by e-mail or letter from Staffordshire County Council with instructions on how to make a booking.

An instructional video detailing the process can be found here: Booking a HAF session

How many sessions can children attend?

Children can attend:

  • Up to 4 sessions during Easter
  • Up to 16 sessions during Summer
  • Up to 2 sessions during October half term
  • Up to 4 sessions during Winter

Availability of sessions may differ by activity and provider

If your child can no longer attend a session, please let the provider know as soon as possible, so another child can take the place

Repeated non-attendance without notice may affect future bookings.

Please read our HAF Attendance Policies for more details.

My child has additional needs - can they still go?

Yes, clubs will try to make small changes, so your child can join in.

Some children may get extra support if needed.

What kind of support can my child get?

This depends on your child’s needs. Support may include:

•    Changes to activities
•    Quiet spaces
•    Extra help from staff
•    A parent or carer staying if needed

What should I tell the provider when booking?

Tell them anything that will help your child, such as:

•    Medical needs
•    Behaviour or support needs
•    What your child enjoys or finds difficult

This helps them plan the right support.

Do I have to pay?

If your child gets benefit related free school meals or has a referral, the place is free.

If not, some clubs offer low-cost paid places.

Can I get help with childcare costs?

If you pay for a place, you may get help through Universal Credit.

We use your details to confirm your child’s participation in the HAF programme.
