Who is the course aimed at?
Aimed at those experienced site workers who are wanting to progress there career into site supervision. The programme also supports employers seeking to upskill their workforce to meet current and future demand, improve site productivity, strengthen compliance, and develop a pipeline of competent supervisors aligned to industry standards.
Entry requirements
Learners must be aged 19+, employed in a construction or civil engineering environment, have the right to work in the UK, and be able to apply learning in a live role. No formal entry qualifications are required, but employer endorsement and role suitability are essential.
What you will learn
The Construction Supervisor Skills Bootcamp is aimed at upskilling employed individuals to gain the relevant skills and qualifications including NVQ in Occupational Work Supervision and Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) or Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) in order to progress into supervisory or management roles.
Learning materials
There are no mandatory pre-course learning materials. However, learners are expected to be competent site operatives with relevant construction experience who are seeking progression into supervisory or higher-responsibility roles within the sector. All required teaching resources, technical content, and assessment materials will be provided through the VLE, face-to-face delivery, and workplace-based learning.
Learning methods
Learners will be taught through a blended delivery model combining an online Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), face-to-face teaching and learning, practical on-site assessment, and competency-based assessment. The VLE supports flexible theory study and consolidation, while face-to-face sessions focus on tutor-led delivery, demonstrations, and applied civil engineering principles.
Learning Support
Learners will receive structured tutor, assessor, and pastoral support throughout the programme. This includes induction and initial assessment to identify individual starting points, tailored learning plans, regular progress reviews, and ongoing feedback through the Virtual Learning Environment and face-to-face sessions. Tutors and assessors will provide targeted coaching, competency-based guidance, and workplace support to help learners apply knowledge confidently in live civil engineering environments. Additional support will be available for literacy, digital skills, wellbeing, and any reasonable adjustments required to ensure successful completion and progression.
How you will be assessed
Assessment will be through a blended model of knowledge checks, tutor-led observations, competency-based assessment, workplace evidence, professional discussions, and practical on-site assessment. Learners will demonstrate competence against supervisory responsibilities, health and safety, leadership, and construction standards. Progress reviews and feedback will be provided throughout to support achievement and readiness for progression into higher-level site roles.
What can learners progress onto
Learners will progress from experienced site operatives and groundworkers into site supervisor roles, with clear progression routes into site management and wider leadership positions. The bootcamp supports career advancement, helps address sector skills shortages, and enables learners to secure higher-value, sustainable careers in construction.
